Robert W Sternbergh

Robert (Bob) W Sternbergh of Cumming, GA (formerly of Greene, NY), died unexpectedly but peacefully, on March 31, 2022. He was 88 years old.

Bob was born July 25, 1933, in Willet, NY. He graduated from Cincinnatus High School in 1952 and then enlisted in the US Navy where he served aboard the USS Saratoga during the Korean War Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1957.

Most of Bob’s career was in the fuel oil business. He was a member of the Greene Rotary Club with 30 years of perfect attendance. He was a past president and was honored with a Paul Harris Fellow Award. He was also a member of American Legion Post #492, Greene, NY. Bob grew up playing and watching sports and was a huge fan of Syracuse Orange men’s basketball. He also shared his love of the game of golf and baseball with his grandsons as often as he could. Bob never met a stranger and was an active part of his community. He was a member of the Greene United Methodist Church and spent many years volunteering at the Greene Apple Fest and at the Greene Labor Day bingo tent. After retirement, Bob and his wife traveled around the country in their RV and enjoyed many years being snowbirds in Florida. He was an avid gardener and landscaper and left his mark on their properties and those of his daughters.’ Bob was a loving, dedicated father who loved spending time with his seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and sons-in-laws.

Bob was dedicated to his family and was loved by “all his girls”: Beverly his wife, and daughters Bonnie, Cindy, Brenda, Linda, Sue, and Tammie.

If you wish to honor Bob’s memory, please consider donating to the Greene Rotary Club or the Greene United Methodist Church.
