Robert Tracy Moore, 88 of Ward SC, formally of Guilford, NY passed away after battling cancer for a year. Even in the end he never lost his smile. He passed March 11, 2022, in the comfort of his home with one of his sons by his side.
He was born on August 24, 1933, to Susan Slocum and Barrett T. Moore in Oxford, New York. He attended Oxford Academy. Robert married his wife Jean of 68 1/2 years on June 27, 1953. While raising their 5 children, they owned a farm in Guilford. They had dairy cattle and then Charolais beef cattle with his parents and it was called Moore and Moore Charolais. They also had sheep, pigs and the occasional pheasant, Jethro, who made the newspaper. Robert loved his horse Nugget and had others throughout his years. Robert served as a sheriff's deputy and family court officer in Chenango County for around a decade. Robert was a helicopter pilot and purchased his own Hughes 269A in 1971. He owned Bluebird Helicopter service with his wife, Jean, and they worked for many farmers in New York State spraying corn, alfalfa and spreading rye seed on the corn fields in the fall. In the late 1970's Robert was asked by St. Nick to borrow his Hughes 269A to fly into the North Plaza Jamesway in Norwich. So, he could visit with the children before Christmas time. After a lifetime in New York State, he and Jean moved to Florida in 1983. While in FL they enjoyed fishing in the Gulf, and he would do odd jobs in the communities they lived in. While there he designed the home they planned to build together in Ward, South Carolina. They moved to South Carolina in 1996. Once they were settled on their new property, they became avid gardeners. They would can large amounts of vegetables and fruits each year. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
