Richard Scott Tansey of Kilroy Road, Oxford passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Wilson Hospital in Binghamton, NY. His brothers, (Paul Tobin and Timothy), his fiancé, Mary Greenley, and longtime friends, Mark Howe and Joe Warren were all with Scott during his final hours.
Scott was born on January 23, 1965. The son of the late Paul Richard and Lousie Margaret Tansey. Scott was predeceased by his brother Mark Andrew Tansey.
Scott is survived by his fiancé, Mary (Warren) Greenley of Nicholson, PA, two brothers Paul Tobin & Kelly Tansey of Victor, NY, nephew Gavin and niece Brinna Tansey of Victor, NY and Timothy Allen & Norma Tansey of Mililani, HI and nephews, Timothy “Sam” Tansey and Meesa Otani; Philip Adam & Asuka Tansey, and niece, Alexis & Steven Aguilar, and grandnieces, Lyla and Kaia Tansey of Hawaii.
Scott was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central Schools’ class of 83 whereas a senior he was a part of the undefeated 1982 Varsity football team. He was also recognized in his JR/SR year as All County 155 lb. wrestler for Oxford. His family showed their registered Holstein cattle at local fairs where he was selected as Grand Champion showman in 1980. He attended SUNY Morrisville & TCCC agriculture programs and worked at the Tansey farm with his parents and brother Mark. Mark and Scott took over the farm and were caregivers to their parents. In recent years Scott was a tractor driver for Joe Warren on his farm in Greene, NY and that is how he reconnected with Mary. They had many plans to travel in the coming months and years.
Burial arrangements are being entrusted to Behe Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 4:00PM at the Tansey Farms 344 Kilroy Road, Oxford, NY 13830. Friends and family may share memories and condolences by visiting www.behefuneralhome.com
