Richard A (Dick) Finch, 92, a lifelong resident of Oxford, NY, passed away due to complications from Covid-19 January 8, 2021 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin, NY.
Dick was born November 28, 1928 in Oxford, to Carl and Maggie (Miner) Finch. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Ila (Moors) and three sons, Frank of South New Berlin, Jeff (Rebecca) of Greensboro, N.C. and James (Ruth Smith) of Oxford. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Brandon (Beth) Finch of Scotts Hill, NC and Derek (Christina) Finch of Kwajalein, Republic of the Marshall Islands. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Additionally, he is survived by his 4 "Grand-doggies", all of whom adored "Pop".
He was predeceased by his two sisters, Joyce Mack and Patricia Bacon.
Dick worked for the Norwich Pharmaceutical Company for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and member of the community until illness took its toll. He took great pride in his house and boathouse that he and his father built together.
He was an active and later an honorary member of the Lake Ludlow Club for over 55 years, serving on the Board of Directors for 32 years.
He was a life member of the Oxford Rod & Gun Club, for which he was a past-president. He additionally served as president of the Chenango County Federation of Sportsmen Clubs.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to all for the support and love they showed Dick and Ila. They also express their sincere thanks to Dick and Ila's neighbors and friends for the wonderful feasts and gracious assistance they gave to Dick and Ila.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830. At Dick's request, he will be remembered in a small family service at Riverview Cemetery at 11.00am on Saturday, January 16, 2021. For those wishing to remember Dick, a donation to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice would be extremely appreciated, in lieu of flowers.
