Peggy Ann (Gates) Spencer, 67 of McDonough, NY passed away on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, NY. She was born on May 7th, 1946 in Johnson City, NY to Donald and E. Joyce (Warner) Gates.
She is survived by her loving companion of twenty-four years Bernie Naber of McDonough; her three children Dawn (Alan Guldy) Spencer, Christopher (Trish) Spencer, and Shonn (Diana) Spencer; five grandchildren; her mother E. Joyce Gates; five brothers - Randy Gates, Donald Gates, Gordon Gates, Pat Gates, and Lyndon Gates; as well as her extended family - Kimberly Conklin, Glen Naber, Michelle Browning, and Bernard Naber II; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Donald Gates in 1989.
Peggy graduated from Oxford Academy and Central Schools, and recently retired from Amphenol in Sidney, NY where she worked as a video jet operator. Peggy took great pride in making her house a home. She actually enjoyed doing her household tasks, such as cleaning, tending to the laundry, and spending time in the kitchen cooking for family and guests. Every spring season you could find her at Nanticoke Gardens getting her pansies for the year. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
A private memorial service will be held at Behe Funeral Home on Friday, February 14th, with Rich Howard officiating. In following Peggy's wishes, there will be no calling hours or public services. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial contribution to the McDonough Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 22, McDonough, NY 13801, or the Chenango Memorial Hospital Foundation, 179 N. Broad St., Norwich, NY 13815.
