Paul E. Thurston

Paul Eugene Thurston, 80, of McDonough, NY. Passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. Paul was born in Sidney, NY son of the late Frederick and Irean (Hatton) Thurston. He was predeceased by his parents and by his sister Florence Milk. Paul was also predeceased by his beloved wife Rebecca “Becky” Thurston in January of 2021.

Paul is survived by his daughter whom he loved dearly Justine Thurston. He is also survived by his brother Calvin and Carol Thurston and many nieces and nephews. Paul also leaves behind his special friends Uncle Wayne and Aunt Mindy Eldred and their family, and Diane and JC Canidy, Beverly and Chester Vigus, Tommy Davis, and the Community of McDonough, NY.

Paul was a member of the McDonough Fire Department, McDonough Fire Police, and The Grange Hall. He worked for Raymond Corp. for over 30 years, Bowman Lake State Park, and Slafferd Farm. Paul was a hard worker and a friend to everyone. He loved the community of McDonough and learning the local history of his home. Paul had a vast array of knowledge of the history of the Town of McDonough, and the Town of Guilford. He volunteered at the McDonough Food Bank; he was always willing to help his community. Paul loved his family dearly. He cherished the times he spent camping with his wife Becky and daughter Justine at Bowman Lake State Park and the memories they made. He always looked forward to his family reunions; Paul would make sure to spend time looking at the family tree and going through old photos while there. He loved the McDonough American Legion Fish Fry Dinner, and spending time there supporting the local community.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc, Oxford, NY. A memorial service in Paul’s memory will be held at the family home 121 Bliven Sherman Road, McDonough, NY 13801 on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 2:00PM.
