Muriel W Matteson

Muriel W. Matteson, 85 formerly of Oxford and Bainbridge, NY passed away on May 6, 2023, at Absolute Nursing Home, Endicott, NY.  She was born on January 9, 1938, in Oxford, the 10^th child of Lee A. and Edna (Miles) Williams.

Muriel graduated from Oxford Academy and Central High School.  She married Keith DuMond of Guilford, NY, with whom she had five children, Patricia DuMond of Sidney, Sherry (Tom) LaRose of Unadilla, Randy (Tammy) DuMond of Bainbridge, Bonnie (John) Farris of San Jose, CA, and Kimberly (Scott) Theis of Afton.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one on the way, and one great great grandson.  She is also survived by her siblings, Connie, Marilyn, Thelma, David, Viola, and Catherine.  She was predeceased by her husbands, Keith DuMond and Frederik Matteson, and her siblings, Lee, Wayne, Donald, Ruth, Shirley, Myrna, Beverly, and George. Also her precious Great Granddaughter Taylor.

Later in life Muriel married her childhood sweetheart, Frederik Matteson.  They spent 20 loving years with summers in Sylvan Beach, NY and winters in Palm Bay, FL.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Muriel’s memory can be made to a charity of your choosing.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St, Oxford, NY with Rev. Norman Reeder, Jr., pastor of Central Baptist Church, Greene, NY officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
