Minerva French Kant Kelly, 91 of Oxford, NY, formerly of Huntington, NY, passed away on March 24, 2014 at her home. She was born on December 10, 1922 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY a daughter of the late Gustav Charles Pfingthorn Kant and Myrtle Adel Spicer Kant. Minerva fell in love with the dashing young dentist and paratrooper, Captain Robert L. Kelly, whom she married on April 30, 1947 in Our Lady of Angels Church.
She is survived by her children, whom they raised in Huntington, NY on 2 Green Hill Lane, Ann Kelly Scorza of Oxford, Nancy Kelly Burch of Angel Falls, NM, Robert L. Kelly, Jr. of Oxford and John F. (Jack) and Ginny Kelly of East Islip, NY; her grandchildren, Jonathan Scorza, Suzanne Scorza DesFosses, Christina Kelly, Meghan Kelly and Melissa Kelly and her great grandchildren, Lucy Anna and Stephen Raymond DesFosses. She was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church in Oxford for many years. She graduated from Columbia University Dental Hygienist Program and worked on 5th Avenue in New York City before and during WWII. Her family and children were Min's focus. The support, generosity, love and care she gave to each of her children so naturally allowed them to become the people they are today. She was the first coach of the John Glen Hockey Team that won the 1974 championship. She will be remembered for taking 13 hockey players in a brand new car to practice. She leaves a lifetime of memories of her unconditional love and generosity.
