Michael Charles Loomis, 75, of Oxford, NY went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2026, in Orlando FL. Mike was born on July 19, 1951, in Syracuse, NY. He was the son of the late Carol Anne (Champlin) Hemstrought and Charles W. Loomis. Mike was predeceased by his parents, and by his daughter Lisa Rouse. He was also predeceased by his brothers Stephen and Timothy Hemstrought.
Mike is survived by his son Ryan (Julie) Loomis of Portage, MI, his sister Julie (Ronald) Loomis Blanford of Oxford, NY, and his niece April Gaus of Casselberry, FL. Mike is also survived by many grandchildren.
Mike served in the United States Army, Company E 50th Infantry Regiment under USARPAC (Camp Dong Tam) Mekong Delta, where he earned expert qualifications for marksmanship with M-14 and M-16 rifles. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged Sergeant E-5 Class in 1971.
Mike worked in general management for multiple large restaurant chains including Winchell’s Hometown Buffet, Chilli’s, Cattleman’s, and Golden Corral. He was well known for his strong work ethic. Mike has a passion for classic cars, car shows, people watching, and reading James Patterson and Louie L’Amour novels. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Mike had a curious spirit and always enjoyed trying new things, like playing the bongo drums, eating escargot, zip lining across the Las Vegas Strip with his son, and so many other adventures. He will be remembered with love and the utmost respect.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc., Oxford, NY. Graveside services officiated by Pastor Richard Howard will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:00AM followed by Military Honors, in the lower level of the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford, NY.
