Linda Ontiveros

Linda Wakefield Ontiveros, 74 of Norwich passed away on June 7, 2023, at Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born on July 26, 1948, in Goshen, NY, a daughter of the late Leon and Shirley (Koller) Wakefield.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather Whapham of Norwich; sister, Ellen Lord of Harpursville; brothers, Richard Wakefield of Edison, NJ and Scott Wakefield of Baltimore, MD; her granddaughter, Brianna Whapham and her great grandson, Drew Whapham.  She was predeceased by her brother, Gary Wakefield.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Linda graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School, Class of 1966.  She attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oxford while growing up. She worked in Washington, DC for the department of Housing and Urban Development as head secretary for many years.  Upon returning to Norwich, she worked for Achieve as a residential aide.

A graveside service will be held on August 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM in Riverview Cemetery (lower part) Oxford, NY.
