Kenneth passed away on Friday morning, October 6th, 2023. Ken is joining his parents and 12 brothers and sisters, along with his son, Steven and his infant daughter, Mishell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Sharon, and her daughters Cindy (Haji) and Sandra Christian. He is also survived by his children, Kenny Jr. (Lana), Jon, David, Michael, Merri, and Chris (Rachel). He is also survived by the mother of his children, Barbara. His favorite people to spend time with were his 19 grandchildren. Isabel, Hannah, Lukas, Ava, Kyle, Chelsea (Kenny), Jonny, Miranda (Alex), Kelli, Nathan, Katie, Thomas, Benjamin, Wes, Gabe, Ryan, Ciera, Cardin, and Seth. He was also blessed to have 3 great grandchildren, Ellie, Kenny, and Mia.
He was so proud of all his kids and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to fish and hunt, and if there was a game to be played or a competition to be in, he was up for it all.
In his youth he played baseball, basketball, and football at Edmeston High School. He graduated with an associate degree in food technology from SUNY Morrisville. He served in the US Army, from 1961-19622. When the kids were younger, he coached the boys in many levels of baseball and watched countless other games. He achieved “TWO” hole-in-one’s at Bluestone Golf course and won many golf tournaments throughout his years and was an avid bowler and card player. Ken was active in the Lion’s Club and was elected Citizen of the Year and Lion of the year in 1981 and 1982. He was also a member of the Fort Hill Post American Legion and enjoyed shuffleboard.
He owned and ran Benjamin’s Slaughterhouse with his sons by his side. After this, he was a rural carrier for the Oxford Post office for 12 years. At retirement he and Sharon would find an extended loving family in Palmetto, Florida at Tree Lakes Resort. They spent over 20 winters there enjoying the activities of golf, bocce, bean bag and shuffleboard.
He was an avid sports fan and a huge Boston fan…Red Sox, Celtics, Penguins and Phil Michelson.
Ken and Sharon have been immensely blessed with friends and neighbors in both Oxford and Florida.
Ken will be remembered for his humble nature, athleticism, and sense of humor. We will miss him dearly and think of him every time we golf, fish, hunt, play cornhole or have one of our Benjamin staycations.
