James A. Boyd III, 25 of Hoover, AL, went home to our Lord on Dec. 17, 2011. He is survived by his parents, James & Dorothy Boyd of Willow Springs, NC, 2 sisters; Karen Hanny of Clayton, NC and Tiffany & Carlton Horne of Hoover, AL, nieces & nephew; KC, Georgia, Haylee & Samantha Horne and Kate and Emma Hanny. Also surviving are 2 grandmothers and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
James graduated from Bethel High School in Bethel, CT and Western Connecticut State University with a BA in Mathematics. He also studied at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL and Delft University in the Netherlands. His thirst for knowledge included seminars at Northeastern University, Harvard and Yale. He worked for BAE Systems in Greenlawn, NY and Nashua, NH as a systems analyst. He was currently employed at Collegiate Admissions and Retention Solutions in Vestavia AL as a developer. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and belonged to the Central Christian Church in Danbury, CT. He was currently attending Church of the Highlands. He recently received his diving certification. James had traveled to Mexico, Honduras, Netherlands, England and the Czech Republic. He learned to cook from friends at the Point Judith Yacht Club and received awards for geography, math, and poetry. Besides his love for his family, he was passionate about philosophy, fashion, and theology. We will all miss his intelligence, his humor and his bear hugs.
Funeral services will be held at the Faith Bible Church, 45 Butler Street, Oxford, on Wednesday, December 28th , 2011 at 2:00pm, with family member Nat Williams officiating. Family and friends may call at the Faith Bible Church, starting at 12:00pm until the time of the service.
