Ione e. harrington

Ione E. Harrington, 101, of Sherburne, formerly of McDonough, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 15th, 2013 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital Nursing Home in Norwich, NY. She was born in McDonough on January 21, 1912, the oldest of seven children of the late Floyd and Lena Belle (Gile) Harrington.
She is survived by her brother George Harrington of Norwich, the youngest of the seven siblings. Her three nephews also survive, Norman Wells of New Brighton, MN; Gordon Wells of Falling Waters, West VA; and Rodger Wells of Kingston, NY.
Ione attended grade school at McDonough Union School, and then graduated from Gilbertsville Central High School in 1932. She was employed as caretaker for a private family home in Albany, NY. She loved playing piano, especially classical opera pieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 20th, 2013 at Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY. Rev. Nancy Hale of the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Norwich will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street, Norwich, NY 13815.
