Ernest L. Williams, 84 of Oxford passed away at his home on January 13, 2022. He was born on June 9, 1937, in Guilford a son of the late Frank D. and Beatrice (Hackett) Williams. On October 25, 1958, he married Patricia Funaro, who passed away on December 3, 2020.
Ernie is survived by his children, Theresa and Mark Pier, Dennis and Tammy Williams, Sylvia Barrows and Glenn, James and Linda Williams and Paul and Jacki Williams; his grandchildren, Charity Held, Andrew Pier, DJ Williams, Peggy Sue Williams, Danielle Williams, Debra Barrows, Nicholas Barrows, James Williams, Jr, Patty Williams, Amber Williams, Tiffany Williams, and Kati Williams. Several great grandchildren also survive. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Doris Bush, Linda and John Covell, Gerald and Eleanor Williams, and Kathy and Danny Frayer and his brothers in law and sisters in law. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Curtis Williams, Douglas Williams, Mary Ballard, Marie Hamilton, Frank Williams, Jr., Donald Williams and Robert Williams.
Ernie retired from the NYS Department of Transportation after 25 years of service. He then worked summers at Bowman Lake State Park and owned and operated Williams Hobby Shop. He was an Honorary Member of the Oxford Fire Department after many years of service. He was a member of the CSEA, Tractors of Yesteryear, the Plymouth Reservoir Lake Owners Association and was a board member of the Oxford Rod and Gun Club.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY 13830. Burial will be in the spring in Port Crane Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
