Donna L Somers

Donna L Somers passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY.

She was predeceased by her parents Roger and Irene [Barnes] Landers of Oxford, NY and her Brother Keith Landers of South Edmeston, NY. Donna is survived by her husband Ed Somers and was very proud of her three surviving sons Chad Somers (Christie) of Preston, NY, Scott Lindridge of Preston, NY and Stephen Lindridge (Shannon) of Newark Valley, NY. Her eyes would light up when seeing her six grandchildren: Keira Somers, daughter of Chad and Christie, Megan, Josh, and Isaiah Lindridge children of Scott and Tina Lindridge, Isaac and Oren Lindridge, sons of Stephen and Shannon Lindridge. She is also survived by four stepdaughters Jody Conant (David), Mary Kirkham (Dave), Sandy Willis (Dan), Cindy Rogers (Ken) and their families.

Donna loved animals and had many pets including dogs, cats, rabbits and would lovingly feed the birds through the cold winter months. Her love of animals went beyond pets as she would patiently feed the chipmunks at the camp right from her hand and at one point befriended a crow that would stop by the back porch of the house for treats. Donna loved a good laugh, oftentimes poking fun at the absurd. She also liked spending time outside fishing and tending her many flower beds until time and the physical demands became too much. In her early life she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oxford where she enrolled her children in vacation bible school, sang in the choir and on many occasions made subs that fed many parishioners. She worked for Chenango County Emergency Management during the Y2K period preparing for what could have happened when computers rolled to 00. She taught first aid and put these skills to the test with three boys and her brother Kieth when he got wrapped up in a drill press. She was a full-time bus driver for Oxford Academy and Central School District where she was also a graduate.

Friends and family may call at the Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY 13830, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 1:00PM-3:00PM. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Richard Howard will follow. A private family burial will take place after the service.
