Donald A. Deiss went to be with the Lord on February 07, 2026, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Dorothy (Sutton) Deiss. He is also survived by his daughter, LaDonna Shore, granddaughter, KC Hrehor (Cody), great-grand sons, Aiden and Landon Hrehor, several nieces and nephews, many special friends and two brothers. He was preceded in death by two sons, a premature infant and Charles Deiss.
He was born in Norwich, New York on September 17, 1946, to Karl and Betty (Belden) Deiss. He graduated from Norwich High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Army in 1966, where he served in Vietnam. It was there he learned to lay asphalt. After separating from the service, he went to work for Suit-Kote in Cortland, in 1971, laying asphalt. He was with them for fifty-four years, until his retirement in September 2025. He also worked for BlueOx in Norwich for twenty-five years. He was a long-time member of Preston Methodist Church and lifetime member of the Preston Fire Department. He loved dancing, trains, going to the casinos and being outdoors.
No services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests considering donating to the Preston Methodist Church, in care of Deborah Myers, 1469 CR 18, Oxford, NY 13830, or the Preston Fire Department, 124 CR 19, Oxford, NY 13830. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc, Oxford, NY.
