Denise E. Baker, 52 of Norwich, passed away at home with her family by her side on November 11, 2011. She was born February 23, 1959 in Johnson City, NY, the daughter of Robert Baker, Sr. and the late Janice Hulbert.
She is survived by her father and his wife Pam; her sister Betty Leahy and Jim Somers of Sherburne, brother Robert Baker, Jr. and wife Ileen of Emery, UT. As well as, Chad and Kelly Baker & family, Joe and Sarah Ford & family, Louis and Taryn Duke & family, Kenny and Jesiy Baker, Jesse Baker, Dillon, Nichole and Eli Law, Michelle, Charles and Christie Baker, her aunt Jeannette Nelson of Greene, and many special friends. She was predeceased by her mother Janice, her brothers Stephen and William, and her sister Cathryn.
Denise worked 19 years for Frontier Communications as a dispatcher in Norwich. Prior to that she drove bus for CWS and was also an area taxi driver. She was an active member of the Relay for Life, she graciously gave her time as both a Literacy Volunteer where she participated in the annual Scrabble tournament, and was also active in the Habitat for Humanity program. With her heart of gold, she organized and sent care packages to many soldiers around the world.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 19th at 2:00 pm at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street in Oxford, with Rev. Neil Bendixen officiating. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Saturday from 12 pm until the time of the service.
