David Benedict, 65, of Oxford, NY. Passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side after losing his battle with cancer on September 3, 2022. David was born on September 26, 1956, son of the late Donald Sr. and Betty (Swift) Benedict. David was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Donald Benedict Jr. and his brother-in-law James Moore.

David is survived by his wife of 24 years Mary Benedict of Oxford, NY, and by his daughter Rheia Fahye Benedict of Oxford, NY, and his grandchildren who he raised Justin and Karma Howey Oxford, NY. David is also survived by his stepchildren Joe and Liz Taylor of Whitney Point, NY and Jennifer and Jamie Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Tom and Patti Benedict of Asheboro, NC and his sisters Pat and Henry Root of McDonough, NY, Nancy Moore of OH, Norma Davis, Oxford, NY, Carol and Terry Marvin of Unadilla, NY, and Joanne and James Dean of Preston, NY. David was also survived by several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, special friends and two distant daughters that he loved very much until the end.

David was loved by many people. He loved to live life to the fullest. David loved working outside. He worked in construction for many years at the Greene foundry and also worked at the Oxford Tavern until his cancer got the best of him. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him. David’s legacy was to have no law and rules.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in David’s memory can be made to the Hospice of Chenango County 33-39 Court St. Norwich, NY 13815.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. No funeral services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Friends and family may share memories and condolences by visiting www.behefuneralhome.com .
