Catherine m fisher

December 30, 1916 — October 15, 2019

Catherine Maffei Fisher, 102, of Norwich, passed away on October 15, 2019 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich, New York. She was born on December 30, 1916 in Paterson, New Jersey to parents Jennie and Charles Maffei. She married Albert Edward Fisher on April 13,1940. Catherine is survived by her beloved daughter, Carol and husband Saul, granddaughter Carolyn and husband Adam, great grandchildren Owen, Nate and Matthew; grandchildren Darren and Mary, and daughter-in-law Gwen, who reside in New Jersey. She is also survived by her precious dog Mitsi, who she held a deep love. Catherine was predeceased by her parents Jennie and Charles, infant brother Pasquale, her beloved husband Albert Edward and son Albert Edward, Jr. Catherine was very proud to be part of America's Greatest Generation. She volunteered her time and energy for many organizations in southern New Jersey, where she resided before moving to New York State to be closer to her family. She volunteered her services to the Whiting First Aide Squad as an EMT, the Whiting Community Medical Center, and the Board of Trustees of Crestwood Village as both President and Secretary. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lafayette Chapter Number 340, Oxford, New York. Catherine was an accomplished bridge player, seamstress, homemaker, and had an adventurous spirit to try new beginnings. Well into her 90's, she line danced, snorkeled in the ocean, tubed at a local ski mountain, traveled out West numerous times and was thrilled to have gone camping with her family on many occasions. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Chenango Memorial Hospital's Nursing Home for their dedication and effort to provide exceptional quality care, Norwich Rehabilitation Nursing Center for their excellent physical therapy program and Dr. Martin Masarech and his staff for endless years of empathy and medical care. At Catherine's request, there will be no calling hours. The family will celebrate her beautiful life in private. In lieu of flowers, Catherine would have loved donations to your favorite charity and to remember her in your heart as a woman who navigated life on her own terms, in her own way, and that she loved her family deeply. Arrangements are entrusted to Behe Funeral Home in Oxford, New York.
