Barbara J. Ingraham, 77 of Oxford passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Chenango Memorial Hospital RHCF, Norwich m with her family by her side.
Born May 29, 1937 in Johnson City, NY, Barbara was the daughter of Bruce C. and Esther (Farley) Palmers. She graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School with the class of 1955 and later attended Binghamton School of Practical Nursing, where she earned her LPN degree. Barbara worked as a nurse at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford for many years until her retirement.
On May 5, 1956 in Coventry, Barbara married Maurice J. Ingraham, who predeceased her on August 31, 2007. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Kuhn and her husband, Gerald of Binghamton, and Lisa Shirazi and her husband Shem of Clermont, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer Kuhn and fiancé, Jimmy of Clermont, FL, Rachel Shirazi of Clermont, FL,, Derrick Kuhn and fiancé, Kelly Callahan of Binghamton and her great grandson, Jordan. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce and Kathy Palmer of Bristol, VA, her sister, Beverly and Aiden Randall of Warren Center, PA and her sisters in law, Barbara Ingraham and Joyce Mulvey. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Barbara was a very active member of the Oxford United Methodist Church. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening and baking. Barbara also worked with ceramics and loved birds. She very much enjoyed spending time with her friends, Donna Wright, Sharon Benjamin and the Gilli's during their Tuesday Morning Coffee Club.
The Ingraham family expresses its sincerest appreciation for the comforting care provide to their mother by the 2nd Floor-South staff of Chenango Memorial Hospital RHCF.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, with Rich Howard officiating. Friends may call at the Behe Funeral Home on Sunday for 2:00 PM until the time of the service.
