Helen C. Hubschmitt of Oxford, Passed away on January 16, 2022, at the NYS Veteran's Home after a long illness. Helen was born on February 25, 1933, in Paterson, NJ. She attended area schools and graduated from Hawthorne High School where she met her future husband, Milton. She then went on to business college as Milt entered the United States Air Force. She worked at T&W Ice Creams business office until her move to Cheyenne WY, to marry Milton before he went overseas. Eventually they found themselves back in NJ, before country life beckoned them to Upstate NY in 1968. It was here Helen was employed by the Oxford Academy High School in the office. She then moved into a cafeteria position so she could enjoy summers off with her children. She loved her job, seeing the students and staff. She was loved by many in return.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Milton in 2018. She is survived by her two children Michael (Nancy) Hubschmitt of Glenfield, NY, and Leslie (Gerry) Reiss of Oxford, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren Tracy (Chris) Lewis, Krista (Adam) King, Kellie Reiss, Michael (Katie) Reiss, Jessica (Eric) Reiss Richmond, Kyle (Christine) Reiss, and three great grandchildren.
Memorial contribution in Helen's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Association 225 N. Michigan Ave Floor 17 Chicago IL or by visiting www.ALZ.org. Contributions can also be made to the local ASPCA/ Humane Society.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Behe Funeral Home Inc. There will be no services at this time and a private burial will take place at a later date. Friends and family may share memories and condolences by visiting www.behefuenralhome.com.
