Glenn mitchell 'mitch' race

August 2, 1953 — October 24, 2014

Glenn Mitchell Race passed away October 24, 2014 at his home in Modesto, CA. He was born on August 2, 1953 in Oxford, the oldest son of Hubert E. Race and Beverly Nichols Race.
He leaves behind his mother Beverly Race Struglia; his daughter Kaylea (Jonathon Nixon, sister Kimberlea (Peter) VanderWoude, brother Jeff (Virginia) Race and niece, Kellea (Daniel) Russell, and nephews, Geoffrey and Nigel VanderWoude, Jason (Celeste) Race, and Tejae (Jennifer) Race. Several grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his father, Hubert Edward Race; his loving step-father Caesar Struglia, and his brother Hubert Edward Race, Jr. (Hebe). Mitch graduated from Oxford Academy and Central School in 1971 and Onondaga Community College in 1973. He was a loving father, son, brother, mentor and good friend to everyone he met. He lived each day with the goal to leave the work he did, and the people he touched, better than he found them. Mitch was a real estate guru. He began his 42 year-long career in real estate Syracuse, NY in 1972 and after moving to Modest, CA in 1988, continued his work as a broker, manager, and real estate coach. He made everyone around him feel like the most important person in the room. He empowered them to truly believe they could accomplish anything they set out to do and then helped them find the tools to make it happen. Aside from his true joy of going to work each day to make a difference in the real estate community, he was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, loved watching Syracuse University basketball, and was a voracious reader. He will be greatly missed, but the lessons he taught us, and the kindness he shared, will never be forgotten.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the United Church of Oxford, 21 Main St., Oxford, NY at 11:00 AM with Rev. Allen C. Lang officiating.
