Elmo S. Gundy, 103 formerly of North Syracuse passed away at the NYS Veterans Home, Oxford on February 16, 2015. He was born on May 12, 1911 in Syracuse a son of the late Ernest and Mae (Sidley) Gundy.
Elmo had resided in the Pitcher Hill area of Mattydale for all his life before moving the NYS Veterans Home in 2006. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a mail carrier in Syracuse for his entire career and was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friend Jim Carr.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including locally Gary and Sharon DeWaters of Syracuse. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Howard and William and his sister Ernestine.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
